PHP Reloaded

Everyone is on about the big CSS Reboot that happened on the 1st of May, so I thought I would give PHP a reboot.

Today CakePHP was released, and it looks like quite a good framework to get in bed with. Lets hope they have turned out a good first product (I wouldnt expect anything less from a goup of cooks) else the baking/cooking jokes are going to fly. Lets see if you can have your cake and eat it? and I hope this is a good rapid development tool, else too many cooks will spoint the broth…

Here is the official spin:

”Cake is a rapid development framework for PHP which uses commonly known design patterns like ActiveRecord, Association Data Mapping, Front Controller and MVC. Our primary goal is to provide a structured framework that enables PHP users at all levels to rapidly develop robust web applications, without any loss to flexibility. ” release notes here
DomPDF is also a great PHP5 PDF converter that converts HTML and CSS pages into PDF’’s. Check out these examples.
